We all need a little help from our friends sometimes.
Well obviously I love and appreciate my human friends too, but on days when I don't feel up to leaving the house or hosting guests, it's so comforting to have my at-home crew of fur and feather friends. I don't need to dress up or apply makeup to hang with them, and they don't judge me for anything I share. Of course I realise they have no idea what I'm saying when I talk to them, but they follow me around wherever I happen to be and are just steadfastly there. I love them so! There have been times that I have wanted to comfort others and found my own skills lacking, so I aspire to provide the sort of gentle, non-intrusive companionship of animals to those friends who might be battling their own issues or anxieties. I'm not going to go into detail about the messy mental yarn ball of angst-inducing external influences that have sent me scampering outdoors for comfort in this blog entry. If you want to know that badly, just look at your own news feed - I'm sure you've seen it all too. And on that note, if anybody is struggling along solo without the support of family, friends or pets, there are still places to turn if you need someone to listen. Call Lifeline Crisis Hotline: 13 11 14 (Also available to those aged 5-25 years) Kids Helpline: 1800 55 1800 Be kind to yourselves everybody - it's okay to feel not feel okay. Do what you can and leave the rest, hope for a better day if you're having a bad one, and reach out to those around you if you need them. We're all in this together. Xo Tsunami.
